Chronic back pain can be debilitating, depressing, cause anxiety, insomnia unable to sleep ) and destroy relationships. Many people often lose their jobs due to so many missed days. Just a vicious cycle.
So when is pain considered chronic you ask?
It is often described as any pain lasting more than twelve weeks. It can last months, unlike acute pain.
Acute pain ( nothing cute at all about pain) is a process that alarms the body that something is wrong ie, touching a hot iron, or a paper cut.
Let’s talk about causes-there are many, such as the following-
Strains-Ligaments and muscles can tear and stretch due to excess activity. Some people will have muscle spasm, stiffness, and pain to the back.
Abnormal Spine Curvatures-
These are congenital conditions, such as Scoliosis, Kyphosis, and Lordosis. They are often diagnosed as a child or teenager. These abnormal curvatures place pressure on vertebrae, tendons, ligaments, and muscles causing poor posture and pain.
Sciatica-The sciatica nerve connects the spine to the legs. This type of pain is often described as bee stings, to numbness to legs and feet.
Spinal Stenosis-this is where the spinal column narrows, putting pressure on the spinal cord and spinal nerves.
There are many other conditions including arthritis, fibromyalgia, spondylitis, kidney and bladder problems to Cancer.
